e careful not to clean the mailbox files, it can corrupt the contents of the mailboxes. T
he content of the mailboxes won't infect the server, unless you actually read/open the mail on the server.
In order to keep your environment secure, some of the other things you might want to check are your relay settings in SmarterMail and any other SMTP server you have installed in order to make sure they are not open. An open relay will be found quickly by hackers/spammers. Sometimes an insecure script in a web site might be a security risk as well
